Anticipation Festival

Scénographie en éco-conception

The Coulisses installation, designed and built by Atelier Craft to stage the Anticipation festival exhibitions, pays homage to the history of La Gaîté Lyrique, while taking on a more topical subject linked to the availability of materials.

In the theater, backstage is originally a sheet of scenery, usually separated from one another by a passage through which the actor slides (coulisses). Here, the set sheet becomes a sheet of paper, and it’s up to the public to slip between them to discover the works that make up the exhibition.

Coulisses invites us to take a fresh look at the materials that surround us, through the rediscovery of an ancestral skill now industrialized: that of the paper-maker. The project places doing at the heart of the creative process, drawing on the recycling process developed at @paprecgroup’s La Courneuve plant.

Backed by 30 years of expertise, the Paprec group, French leader in recycling, waste management and energy recovery, has become a key player in the ecological transition and sustainable development. Since its creation in 1994, the company has always demonstrated an active commitment to diversity, secularism, equal opportunity and the environment.

Notably a patron of the Paris Opera since 2000, Paprec is also committed to culture, developing its support for artistic creation to promote contemporary art among the general public and employees through various initiatives (acquisition of works, exhibitions, partnerships, residencies, etc.) and contributing to the realization of several projects through skills sponsorship. A true precursor on the need to switch to the circular economy and a sustainable growth model based on recycling and waste recovery, Paprec has initiated an incredible industrial and human adventure, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
